Seamless elbows with a very thick wall

Our product range includes seamless elbows with thick walls, special materials, special center to center distances, pipe elbows with extended tangents as well as various angles (180°, 90°, 45°, 24°, etc.).

We are particularly specialized in the manufacture of type B elbows according to the norm EN 10253-2 or 10253-4 or part 2 elbows according to DIN 2605. Our products are used in refineries, power plants, oil drilling platforms, heat exchangers, for mechanical engineering and so on.

The pipe elbows are manufactured according to two different manufacturing processes. For one, we manufacture elbows according to the “hamburger process”. Here the tube is pressed over a curved inner mandrel. The second manufacturing method is a hot forging process. In this procedure, the elbow is pressed into the appropriate shape by a die.

We supply elbows made of carbon steel, high alloyed steel or even stainless steel. Our extensive experience also in terms of heat treatment gives us the possibility to cover a wide range of materials. A list of materials can be found in the materials section.

Our production process is subject to stringent quality controls. During the manufacturing process, dimensional checks are carried out to detect early errors. Our company is supervised by TÜV Nord and is ISO9001 certified.

Wall thickness: from 1 mm to 50 mm, depending on the outside diameter

In the "Hamburger Verfahren" the tube is hot formed over a mandrel shaped like an alphorn. .

During the hot forging process a tube section is pressed into a die shaped in the negative form of the finished elbow.

After forming the product is cut to the required angle. We can cut any angle from 7° to 180°.

End forming

End preparation of an elbow

With our versatile range of equipment we are able to provide elbows with a wide variety of welding bevels. These can either be machined to standard specifications or custom-made to technical drawings.

Surface finish

Correction of the elbows surface

In the last step of the production process the surface of the elbow is inspected and any surface irregularities corrected. The elbows can optionally be sandblasted, pickled or coated.

Final product inspection

Material inspection

Upon completion the elbow undergoes material testing as specified or required and is checked for dimensional accuracy. A mark is mechanically or chemically stamped onto each elbow.

Shipment

Secured packing

When the finished elbows have passed the final inspection, they are securely packed for shipping.

The goods can optionally be sent by express delivery, by standard dispatch or with seaworthy packing for export. Please contact us about your requirements.

Standards for seamless elbows

Standards


In the area of fittings and elbows, various standards are valid and are applied by us. We also manufacture our elbows according to customer specifications.

EN 10253-2 (Issue 2008) - carbon steel elbows

This is the current standard for butt welding pipe fittings of non-alloyed and ferritic alloyed steels with specific inspection requirements. Several DIN standards for various fittings have been combined into a European standard. For us, the elbow part is essential here. We supply carbon steel elbows according to the types 2D, 3D, 5D and also many other radii in between. The EN 10253-2 also includes a part for elbows with a full degree of utilization (Type B). "Type B" elbows have a significantly reinforced wall thickness against the wall thickness on the inside of the elbow. The reason for this is that the the inside wall of the fitting is the most stressed part of an elbow.

En 10253-4 (Issue 2008) - stainless steel elbows

This standard deals with fittings for the welding of austenitic and austenitic-ferritic (duplex) steels with special test requirements. For the most part, this standard complies with EN 10253-2. Here, for example, there are sporadically different bending radii compared to the EN10253-2. Our team will inform you about the differences if you need further information.

DIN 2605

The DIN 2605 is the former elbow standard which has now been replaced by the EN10253. There are other wall thicknesses for the elbows with a full degree of utilization (Type 2) compared to the new standards. Also, this standard is not as extensive as the EN10253 and it contains only a part about elbows and no other fittings.

ASME B 16.9

This standard includes all technical delivery conditions for fittings manufactured according to ASME Standard. Among other things, there is a part for elbows.

We also manufacture elbows outside the standard bending diameter 2D, 3D, 5D. Our well-set tool portfolio allows us to offer many special dimensions in the range up to 219mm outside diameter.
